Problem: Time Management

Time management is a huge problem for me. This is because it is very difficult for me to get out of my house until it is the last minute. I can wake up two hours ago and leave at the same time when I wake up thirty minutes ago. After leaving the house, things will turn out to be better. Usually, I will do a daily planning to compensate my bad time management skill. Sometimes, it is not helpful because there is an old saying in Chinese culture, “planning can never catch up with changing.” I truly agree with this proverb. There are times, I had my schedule planned out perfectly, but there will be obstruction came out to destroy the plan. At that point, I will need to adjust my plan to find alternatives to make up the hours I lost. I really need some advice in regarding of this skill. HELPPPPPPPPPP!!!!

  1. well, i think you can use a planner to help you out. I use the planner most of the time, write down what i need to do on the specific day, and go back to check it when i have done. openning is not a easy thing, but you will get use of it as time goes on.Hope it will help you. Good luck for the semester ^^

  2. As Huister said, the planner is a very useful tool to manage our time. as i know, learn how to focus on the job at hand is another very useful skill. once you have decided to take up a particular job, don’t let yourself get distracted on the way. Ensure that you are determined to complete the job at hand before you allow your mind to take detours into other arenas awaiting attention. this will help you to do things more effectively. Hope this will help....Good Luck

  3. I think the most helpful way will be following your plan instead of making changes. It might sound difficult but since you planned out your day already, you should follow it instead of making changes. Unless the situations that come up is urgent, you should just stick with your plan and follow.

  5. Adding to what others said, I think you should also try to limit down the list to more specific and realistic. Don't cram a lot of tasks in a short period of time. List the more important/urgent tasks first and then the less as essential ""businesses"" (in case you can't finish everything, you can move those to another day}.

As for the morning-management issue, maybe you should try to organize your things the night before. Let say, put the things you need in the bag and pick out the clothes you want to wear the next day before you sleep. Hope this helps, Lisa. :)

I couldn't post any comments last night..so weird.

  6. welcome aboard my friend. as much as these critics feign as if time is no issue for them, we all struggle with time. that being said, don't panic! i think the advice given thus far is extremely useful and quite vital. in my opinion, commitment is a solution to time management. that and a good memory to remember your commitments. as long as you make plans to do something whether it be to go to the gym 5 times a week, waking up at a specified time, or simply doing your management blogs on time, stay committed and be consistent. oh yea, and like xjinri mentioned, you got to prioritize. follow this recipe and i'm sure you'll do fine
